The NA3HL Texas RoadRunners, formerly known as the College Station Spirit, will begin their first full-season in at the Spirit Ice Arena and with a new head coach. When former coach, Ryan Egan, left owner Don Stone with vacant head coach and general manager positions and the RoadRunners looking to improve upon last year’s finish, they worked out a deal to bring in coach Mike Beavis.
“When I was given the opportunity to work for Don Stone and his family, I jumped at it without hesitation. I spoke with Don last season about a few things and was very impressed with his passion and values. I knew that he was a guy I could work for in the future,” said Beavis.
Beavis wasted no time getting his 2019-20 roster started by signing former captain, Brenden Fehlig, a 6’1, 200 lb. forward from Las Vegas, Nevada. “Having a chance to meet with Brenden this summer and spend some time with him, I instantly knew the he was the kind of character guy that we look for. He was upfront with what he is looking for this season and is a determined and goal oriented individual” stated Beavis.
The RoadRunners will work hand-in-hand with their parent team, the Odessa Jackalopes of the NAHL, to further develop young players within the organization. Beavis brings a long history of hockey experience with him and will look to get the team started off on the right foot come training camp.
